Safer Agriculture For Employees in Rural Kırsal Alanda Çalışanlar için Daha Güvenli Tarım -SAFER is a Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation Project in the Life Long Learning Programme that has been financed by Europan Union and organized by Turkish National Agency Center for European Union Education and Youth Programmes . The project is being conducted and coordinated by Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Agriculture with the participation of Federacion Agroalimentaria de Comisiones Obreras-Spain, Asesoria Declerq SL Estudios Europeos-Spain, Ente Nazionale per la Meccanizzazione Agricola-Italy, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs General Directorate of Organization and Support Directorate of Ankara Agricultural Enterprise Personnel and Machinery Training Center-Turkey, University of Ankara Faculty of Agriculture-Turkey, The Turkish Association of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers-Turkey, The Union of Turkish Chambers of Agriculture-Turkey and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Directorate General for Agricultural Production and Development Department of Alternative Agricultural Production Techniques-Turkey. In order to reduce the number of accidents, the idea of starting point of this project is firstly manufacturing of safe agricultural machinery and then providing training that enables the users to obey the rules of safe machinery use. With implementation of the SAFER Project, it has been targetted firstly determination of the needs of Turkish agricultural machinery manufacturers, our farmers and all machinery users manufacturing/using safe machinery and secondly produce and developespecial training materials according to these needs. Within the context of the project, to train up volunteers of occupational safety in agriculture, effort will be made implementing pilots training via using training materials produced in this project. The project started 1 st on December 2008 and will continue for 2 years. The activities and outputs of the projects coming out regularly to achieve informing all shareholders related to agricultural safety. With SAFER Project, it is also expected to developsocial awareness about the painful accidents and their results encountered frequently and mostly related to farm machinery use.
